Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, you can start from the town of Petrila. Drive towards the Parang Mountains, following the signs to DN66. Once you reach the junction towards Parang, take the road that leads to the mountains. Continue driving until you reach the Parang ski resort area and look for signs directing you to Gaura lui Garaf. The final stretch will require parking your vehicle at a designated area near the trailhead, as the area is not accessible by car. Parking fees may apply depending on the season.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Gaura lui Garaf via public transportation, take a train or bus to the nearest city, which is Târgu Jiu or Petroșani. From Târgu Jiu, you can catch a bus to Petrila. Once in Petrila, inquire about local transport options or taxis that can take you to the base of the Parang Mountains. From there, you will need to hike to Gaura lui Garaf. Make sure to check the local bus schedules in advance as they may vary, especially on weekends.

• Hiking
