Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey from the town of Petrosani. Head south on DN66 towards the Parang Mountains. Once you reach the town of Novaci, follow the signs for the Transalpina road (DN67C). Continue on this road until you reach the Parang ski resort area. Look for the signs directing you towards Refugiul Agăţat. You may need to park your car at the designated parking area near the ski resort, as the last part of the journey involves a hike.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Petrosani to Novaci. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once in Novaci, you will need to either arrange for a taxi to take you to the Transalpina road or hike towards the Parang Mountains. If hiking, follow the road signs towards the ski resort. The hike from Novaci to Refugiul Agăţat will take around 3-4 hours, so be prepared with proper hiking gear and adequate water.
Hiking
Regardless of your mode of transportation to the ski resort area, the final stretch to Refugiul Agăţat requires a hike. From the ski resort, follow marked trails towards Refugiul Agăţat, which is approximately a 2-hour hike. The trails are well-marked, but it's recommended to have a map or GPS to navigate. Enjoy the scenic views along the way, and keep an eye out for trail markers to ensure you're on the right path.
