Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, which is Novaci. From Novaci, head north on DN67C (Transalpina Road) for approximately 12 km. Follow the signs indicating Transalpina. The road will take you through beautiful mountain scenery, and you will encounter various viewpoints along the way. Make sure to drive carefully, as the road can be narrow and winding in some areas. Parking is available at various points along the route once you reach the higher elevations.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Râmnicu Vâlcea to Novaci. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once in Novaci, you can catch a local taxi or shared ride to reach Transalpina. The taxi ride will cost approximately 50-70 RON (around 10-15 EUR) and take about 20-30 minutes. Ensure to arrange for a return trip, as public transport options back to Novaci may be limited.
Hiking
If you are feeling adventurous and are already in the Parang Mountains, consider hiking to Transalpina. Start from the Parang Mountain Hut and follow the marked trails leading towards Transalpina. This route is approximately 15 km and will take around 4-5 hours of hiking. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring enough water and snacks for the journey.
