From the Râmnicu Vâlcea bus station (Autogara Râmnicu Vâlcea), take a bus heading towards Curtea de Argeș. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at Arefu. The journey will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Arefu, you can follow the signs to Poenari Citadel. It is about a 20-minute walk uphill from the bus stop.
