Walking
If you are starting from the Butare central market, head south on Avenue de la Revolution. Walk straight for about 700 meters until you reach the intersection at Avenue Nyakabanda. Turn right onto Avenue Nyakabanda and continue walking for about 1 kilometer. You will pass several local shops and cafes along the way. Keep an eye out for local signs pointing towards the university. Once you reach the Université Nationale du Rwanda campus, you will notice a large sign indicating the direction to the Gorilla Statue. Follow the signs, and in about 300 meters, you will arrive at the Gorilla Statue, which is located in a small park area.

Starting from the Butare city center, rent a bicycle from a local shop. Head south on Avenue de la Revolution and cycle for about 700 meters until you reach the intersection with Avenue Nyakabanda. Take a right turn onto Avenue Nyakabanda and continue cycling straight for about 1 kilometer. You will pass by various shops. Keep an eye out for signs towards the university. As you approach the Université Nationale du Rwanda campus, follow the signs for the Gorilla Statue. It is about 300 meters from the campus entrance, situated in a small park area.

From the Butare central market, you can take a moto-taxi (motorcycle taxi) to the Gorilla Statue. Inform the driver that you wish to go to the Gorilla Statue located near the Université Nationale du Rwanda. The ride should take approximately 5-10 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will drop you off at the entrance of the university campus, from where you can follow the signs to the Gorilla Statue located in the nearby park.
