Car
If you are driving, start from the main town in Eastern Province, Kayonza. Head south on the RN 2 road towards Rwamagana. After approximately 15 km, turn onto the road leading to Nyagatare. Continue for about 20 km until you reach the sign for Cratere Ruhara. Turn right and follow the dirt road for about 5 km until you arrive at the crater. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain.

Public Transportation
To reach Cratere Ruhara via public transport, take a bus from Kayonza to Nyagatare. Buses leave frequently from the Kayonza bus station and the fare is approximately 1,500 RWF. Upon reaching Nyagatare, you will need to hire a motorcycle taxi (known as 'moto') to take you to Cratere Ruhara. The ride should cost around 2,000 RWF and will take about 20 minutes. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting the journey.
