Getting There

If you are in the town center of Karongi, head towards the main road (Avenue du Lac). Walk along this road towards the northeast direction. After about 15 minutes, you will reach the shores of Lake Kivu. Continue walking along the lakeside path, which is well-marked and scenic. After another 10-15 minutes, you will see the Museum of Environment located near Kibuye, on your right. The museum is easily recognizable with its distinct signage and is set amidst beautiful surroundings.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Karongi. Start your journey from the center of Karongi and ride towards Avenue du Lac. Follow the road along the lake, enjoying the views. It should take around 30-40 minutes to reach the Museum of Environment. Keep an eye out for local landmarks such as the Kibuye market along the way, which can help guide you. The museum will be on your right, and there will be signs directing you to the entrance.
