If you are driving from Kibungo town, head east on the main road towards Rwamagana. After approximately 10 kilometers, take a left turn onto the road leading to Samatare. Follow this road for about 5 kilometers, where you'll find signs directing you to the Samatare Caves. The caves are located at GPS coordinates -1.9968191 latitude and 30.3372739 longitude. Make sure to park in the designated area near the entrance.

Public Transport
From Kibungo, take a minibus (commonly called a 'matatu') heading towards Rwamagana. Ask the driver to drop you off at the junction for Samatare, which is about 10 kilometers from Kibungo. Once you get off at the junction, you can either walk the remaining distance of about 5 kilometers to the caves or hire a local motorbike taxi (commonly known as 'moto') to take you directly to the entrance. Ensure you negotiate the fare beforehand, which typically ranges from 1,000 to 2,000 Rwandan Francs.

If you prefer a more adventurous route and are already close to the Samatare area, you can walk to the caves. From Kibungo, head east on the main road until you reach the junction leading to Samatare. This walk is approximately 15 kilometers and will take around 3-4 hours.
