Getting There

Car

From Muhazi Lake, head southeast on the main road towards Kayonza. Continue driving for approximately 35 kilometers until you reach the junction for Akagera National Park. Turn left at the junction and follow the signs towards Akagera National Park for another 15 kilometers. As you approach the park entrance, be prepared to pay an entrance fee (approximately 15 USD for foreign tourists). After entering the park, follow the park road for about 10 kilometers until you reach Akagera Game Lodge, which will be on your left.
Public Transportation

Start at Muhazi Lake and take a moto-taxi or a local bus to Kayonza station. The fare should be around 500-1000 Rwandan Francs. Once at Kayonza, look for a bus heading to Akagera National Park. The bus fare will be approximately 2000 Rwandan Francs. The bus will take you to the park entrance. After entering the park (entrance fee approximately 15 USD), you can either walk or hire a local guide or vehicle at the entrance to reach Akagera Game Lodge, which is about 10 kilometers inside the park.
