Getting There

Car
From Muhazi Lake, head south on the main road towards the town of Kayonza. Continue for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach the junction near Kayonza town. At the junction, take a left turn towards the direction of the Nyagatare road. Follow this road for about 15 kilometers until you see signs for Lake Ihema. Turn right and follow the dirt road leading directly to the shoreline of Lake Ihema. The total driving time is around 45 minutes, depending on road conditions.

Public Transportation
From Muhazi Lake, walk to the nearest bus station in Kayonza town. Look for a bus heading towards Nyagatare. The fare should be around 1,000 Rwandan Francs. Once you arrive in Nyagatare, you will need to take a moto-taxi (motorcycle taxi) to Lake Ihema. The moto-taxi fare will be approximately 2,000 Rwandan Francs. Make sure to agree on the price before starting the ride. The total travel time using public transportation may take around 1.5 to 2 hours, including waiting times.
