Getting There

Walking

Start at the Nyagatare bus station. Exit the station and head southwest on Avenue de la Paix. Continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Avenue des Hospitaliers. Turn right onto Avenue des Hospitaliers and walk for another 1 kilometer until you reach the main road heading towards Ruhondo. Turn left and follow the road for approximately 10 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to PEACE HAVEN ISLAND. Once you reach the shore of Lake Ruhondo, you may need to arrange for a boat ride to the island.
Bicycle

Rent a bicycle from a local shop in Nyagatare. Start at the Nyagatare bus station and cycle southwest on Avenue de la Paix. Continue for about 1.5 kilometers and turn right onto Avenue des Hospitaliers. Cycle for another kilometer, then turn left onto the main road towards Ruhondo. Keep cycling for about 10 kilometers, being mindful of the road conditions. When you reach Lake Ruhondo, locate a boat service that can take you to PEACE HAVEN ISLAND.
