Getting There
Bicycle
From the center of Rubavu, head southeast towards Avenue de la Révolution. Keep riding straight until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto Avenue de la Paix, which will lead you to the shores of Lake Kivu. Continue along the lakeside road for approximately 10 kilometers. You will see signs directing you towards Mt Nyiragongo. The bike ride offers beautiful views of the lake and surrounding landscapes.
Walking
Starting from the Rubavu main market, walk towards Avenue de la Révolution. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Avenue de la Paix. Walk towards the lake and follow the lakeside path. After about 10 kilometers, you will reach a point where you can see Mt Nyiragongo in the distance. Although it is quite a long walk, the scenery is rewarding, especially as you get closer to the volcano.
Motorbike Taxi (Boda Boda)
