Getting There

  • Bicycle

    From the center of Ruhengeri, head south on Avenue de la Révolution. Continue straight until you reach the junction with Avenue du Lac. Turn left onto Avenue du Lac and follow it for about 10 kilometers. You will pass through scenic countryside. Keep an eye out for signs to Lake Bunyonyi, which will guide you to the lake area.

  • Walking

    Starting from the Ruhengeri bus station, walk south on Avenue de la Révolution. After approximately 2 kilometers, you will reach a fork; take the right path onto Avenue du Lac. Continue walking for about 8 kilometers. Be prepared for a longer trek, but enjoy the views along the way. Look for local signs pointing towards Lake Bunyonyi.

  • Motorbike Taxi

    From any point in Ruhengeri, find a moto-taxi (motorbike taxi) and tell the driver you are going to Lake Bunyonyi. They will know the route. The ride will take around 30 minutes, and you will travel along Avenue de la Révolution and Avenue du Lac. It’s a scenic ride, so enjoy the views!

  • Public Transport (Minibus)

    Go to the Ruhengeri bus station and look for a minibus heading towards Kisoro or Kabale. Once you board, inform the conductor that you want to get off at Lake Bunyonyi. The journey will take about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive, you may need to walk a short distance to reach the lake shore.
