Car
If you are driving, start from the town of Kibuye in Western Province. Take the main road (RN 10) heading east towards Gisenyi. Continue on RN 10 for about 30 kilometers. Look for signs directing you towards the Nyungwe National Park area. Once you reach the junction at the town of Bwishyura, turn left and follow the road for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach the Cratere Ruhara. Ensure to have a GPS or a map as some signs may be limited.

To reach Cratere Ruhara via public transportation, start in Kibuye and take a bus or shared taxi heading towards Gisenyi. Inform the driver that you intend to get off at Bwishyura. The fare is typically around RWF 1,000-1,500. After reaching Bwishyura, you can hire a motorcycle taxi (known as 'moto') for the remaining 20 kilometers to Cratere Ruhara. The cost for the moto ride is approximately RWF 3,000-5,000. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey.
