Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the town of Kibuye, which is about 45 kilometers from Cratere Rwashungwe. Head east on the RN 10 road. Continue for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the junction near the town of Gitesi. Here, you will turn left onto a dirt road that leads towards the crater. This part of the road may be less maintained, so exercise caution. Follow this road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the entrance to Cratere Rwashungwe. Parking is available near the crater.

To reach Cratere Rwashungwe via public transportation, you can take a bus from Kibuye to Gitesi. Buses leave regularly from the main bus station in Kibuye. The fare is typically around 500 Rwandan Francs (RWF). Upon arriving at Gitesi, you can hire a motorcycle taxi (moto) to take you the remaining distance to Cratere Rwashungwe. The moto fare should be negotiated upfront and will generally be around 2,000 RWF for the trip, which is about 15 kilometers.
