Walking
From Gros Islet, head south towards the main road (Rodney Bay Road). Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with the Castries-Vieux Fort Highway (also known as the A1 road). Turn left onto the highway and walk along the sidewalk. Keep walking until you enter Castries. Look for signs directing you to the city center. Once in the city center, you will see signs for Derek Walcott Square, which is located at 2255+GMV. Follow the signs until you reach the square, which is a short walk from the main road.
Public Transport
From Gros Islet, walk to the nearest bus stop (located along the main road). Catch a local minibus heading to Castries. Buses are frequent, and you can simply ask the driver to let you know when you reach Castries. Once you arrive in Castries, exit the bus and walk towards the city center. Look for signs directing you to Derek Walcott Square, located at 2255+GMV. It should be a short walk from the bus station.
