Walking
From the center of Marigot Bay, head towards the main road that runs along the waterfront. Walk along the waterfront promenade until you reach the entrance of the bay. Continue straight on this path, and you will eventually see the signs directing you to Castries. Follow this route until you reach the intersection with the main road leading to Castries. Cross the road and continue in the direction of Castries. Keep walking for approximately 20-25 minutes. You will notice the landscape changing as you move away from the bay. Upon reaching Castries, you will find Derek Walcott Square located on your left, just past the main market area.
Boat
If you prefer a scenic route, consider taking a water taxi from Marigot Bay to Castries. Head to the waterfront where the water taxis are located. Speak with one of the operators and request a ride to Castries. The boat ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful views of the coastline. Once you arrive at the Castries harbor, disembark and walk towards the city center. Derek Walcott Square is a short 10-minute walk from the harbor, located near the main market area.
Public Transport (Bus)
For a local experience, you can take a bus from Marigot Bay to Castries. Head to the main road where you will find the bus stop. Look for a minibus heading towards Castries. The buses are usually marked with their destination, so ensure it says 'Castries'. Once on the bus, enjoy the ride which will take around 30 minutes. Upon arrival in Castries, disembark at the main bus terminal. From there, it's a short 5-minute walk to Derek Walcott Square, which is located just a few blocks away.
