Getting There

Car
From Niokolo-Koba National Park, start by heading southwest on the N1 road toward Kolda. Continue on the N1 for approximately 160 kilometers until you reach the town of Kolda. From Kolda, take the N7 road heading west for about 50 kilometers until you reach the junction for the Parc national de Basse Casamance. Follow the signs for the park entrance, which will be approximately 15 kilometers from the junction. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as gas stations can be sparse in this region.

To travel by public transport, first make your way to the nearest major town, which is Kolda, from Niokolo-Koba National Park. You can take a local taxi-brousse (shared minibus) to Kolda. The journey may take around 3-4 hours depending on the road conditions. Once in Kolda, look for another taxi-brousse heading towards the village of Ziguinchor. This ride will take approximately 2-3 hours. After arriving in Ziguinchor, you can hire a local taxi to take you directly to the Parc national de Basse Casamance, which is approximately a 30-minute drive. Be prepared for additional costs for each leg of the journey.

For a more adventurous route, consider driving from Niokolo-Koba National Park to the coastal town of Cap Skirring. Follow the N1 to Kolda and then take the N7 to Ziguinchor. From Ziguinchor, drive to Cap Skirring (about 90 km). Once in Cap Skirring, you can hire a boat to take you to the Parc national de Basse Casamance.
