    If you're traveling by car, start from Kenema, the largest city in the Eastern Province. Take the A2 highway towards Freetown. Continue for approximately 100 kilometers until you reach the junction for the Bonthe road. Turn right onto the Bonthe road and follow the signs towards Cape Sierra Leone, which is located at the southern end of the peninsula. The drive will take around 2.5 to 3 hours depending on road conditions. Ensure to have enough fuel as fuel stations may be scarce along the route.

  • Public Transportation - Taxi

    From Kenema, you can take a shared taxi (commonly referred to as a 'poda poda') heading to Freetown. Once you reach the central taxi park in Freetown, look for taxis that are going towards Bonthe. Confirm that the taxi can drop you off close to Cape Sierra Leone. The taxi ride from Kenema to Freetown takes about 2 hours, and the fare is approximately 30,000 Leones. The taxi to Bonthe may cost around 50,000 Leones and will take an additional 1.5 hours.

  • Boat

    After reaching Bonthe, you'll need to take a boat to Cape Sierra Leone. There are local boats available that make the trip to the peninsula. Make sure to negotiate the fare before boarding; it typically ranges from 10,000 to 20,000 Leones per person and takes about 30 minutes. Ensure you check the boat schedules as they may not run frequently.
