Walking
From the center of Freetown, head towards the Atlantic Ocean. Start at the popular Cotton Tree landmark on George Street. Walk west along George Street until you reach the junction with Siaka Stevens Street. Continue straight onto Siaka Stevens Street until you reach the end of the road at the waterfront. Once you reach the waterfront, turn left and follow the path along the coast until you see the ferry terminal.

At the ferry terminal, look for local boats heading towards the Sierra Leone River Estuary. Purchase a ticket for the ride. The boat ride typically takes about 30-45 minutes, depending on the weather and sea conditions. Ensure to inform the boat operator that you want to disembark at the SLRE RAMSAR Site or the nearest drop-off point.

Once you disembark from the boat, follow the trail leading into the Sierra Leone River Estuary area. Look for signs indicating the SLRE RAMSAR Site. You may need to walk a short distance through mangroves and along the riverbank to fully reach the designated area.
