Getting There

  • Car

    From John Obey Beach, head northeast on the main road towards the junction near the John Obey River. Continue straight until you reach the main highway (A1). Merge onto the A1 road heading towards Freetown. After about 15 kilometers, look for the sign for Bureh Beach. Turn left onto the smaller road that leads directly to Bureh Beach. The beach will be approximately 5 kilometers down this road. There is no entry fee to access Bureh Beach, but you may want to bring cash for parking or any local vendors.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Bureh Beach via public transportation, take a shared taxi from John Obey Beach heading towards Freetown. Inform the driver that you wish to go to Bureh Beach. The fare should be around 5,000 SLL per person. After about 20-30 minutes, the driver will drop you off at the junction near Bureh Beach. From there, you can either walk the remaining 5 kilometers to the beach or negotiate a fare with a local motorbike taxi (okada) for a quicker ride.
