Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Port Loko. Head south on the main road (Freetown-Port Loko Highway) towards the town of Masiaka. After about 30 kilometers, take the exit towards Bureh Beach, which is well-signposted. Continue on the local road for approximately 15 kilometers until you reach Bureh Beach. Please note that some sections of the road may be unpaved, so drive cautiously. There are no tolls on this route.
Public Transportation (Mini-Bus)
For those opting for public transportation, go to the main bus station in Port Loko. Look for a mini-bus heading towards Masiaka. The fare is typically around 5,000 Leones. Upon arriving at Masiaka, you will need to get a local taxi or motorbike to reach Bureh Beach. The taxi fare should cost approximately 20,000 Leones. Ensure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey. The final leg to the beach is about a 15-kilometer ride.
Motorbike Taxi
If you prefer a more adventurous option, you can hire a motorbike taxi from Port Loko to Bureh Beach. This option is faster and more flexible. Head to a nearby junction where motorbike taxis are available. The fare is usually around 30,000 Leones for the ride to Bureh Beach. Make sure to wear a helmet and confirm the price before setting off. The journey will take you through scenic areas and is about 15 kilometers long.
