From Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary, head south on the main road towards Freetown. Continue on the main road for approximately 10 kilometers until you reach the junction at Regent. Take a left turn and follow the road for another 5 kilometers, where you will see signs for the Sierra Leone River Estuary (SLRE RAMSAR Site). The entrance is located near the coordinates FRJW+CJ2 in Freetown. There may be a small parking fee, so ensure to carry some local currency.

To reach Sierra Leone River Estuary from Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary using public transport, walk to the nearest bus stop on the main road. Take a shared taxi or ' poda poda' (minibus) heading towards Freetown. Inform the driver that you want to go to the Sierra Leone River Estuary. The fare should be around 5,000 to 10,000 Leones depending on the distance and demand. Once you reach the vicinity of the estuary, you may need to walk a short distance to the entrance. Always confirm with the driver that you are getting off at the right stop.
