Established in 1915 as a wet market serving Singapore's Indian immigrant community, Tekka Centre evolved from buffalo pens known as Kandang Kerbau to its current name in 2000, reflecting Hokkien roots tied to bamboo trade. Renovated in 2008-2009, it stands as a preserved landmark next to Little India MRT, blending over a century of multicultural heritage in the heart of Little India.
