Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the center of Cole Bay, near the intersection of Welfare Road and Bush Road. Head south on Welfare Road, passing by various shops and restaurants. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Route 1 (also known as the Simpson Bay Road). Walk for another 1 kilometer until you reach the next roundabout. From here, take the first exit to Route 1, which leads towards the French side of the island. Continue on this road as it becomes Rue de la Liberté. After approximately 1 kilometer, keep an eye out for signs indicating the direction to the Border Monument. The Border Monument will be located on your right-hand side, just past the intersection with Rue de la Liberté. The landmark is situated in a picturesque area, making it an ideal spot for photos.

    If you have access to a bicycle, start from the center of Cole Bay. Ride south on Welfare Road, passing local shops and cafes. After about 1.5 kilometers, you will reach a roundabout. Take the second exit onto Route 1. Continue cycling for approximately 1 kilometer. At the next roundabout, take the first exit onto Route 1 heading towards the French side. After cycling for about 1 kilometer, look for signs for the Border Monument. It will be on your right after you pass Rue de la Liberté.
