If you are traveling by car from Banská Bystrica, take the E77 road heading south towards Zvolen. After approximately 20 kilometers, merge onto the R1 expressway towards Nitra. Continue on R1 for about 30 kilometers and take the exit towards Modrý Kameň (exit 30). Follow the signs to Modrý Kameň, and upon entering the town, look for Zámocká street. The Slovenské národné múzeum - Múzeum bábkarských kultúr a hračiek is located at Zámocká 1, 992 01 Modrý Kameň. There is parking available near the museum.

Public Transportation - Bus
To reach the museum via public transportation, take a bus from Banská Bystrica to Modrý Kameň. Buses run regularly from the main bus station (Autobusová stanica) in Banská Bystrica. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Once you arrive at the Modrý Kameň bus station, it is a short 10-minute walk to the museum. Head east on Hlavná street, continue straight until you reach Zámocká street, and turn left. The museum will be on your right.

Public Transportation - Train
An alternative option is to take a train from Banská Bystrica to the nearest train station to Modrý Kameň, which is in the town of Zvolen. From Zvolen, you can take a local bus or taxi to reach Modrý Kameň. The train journey to Zvolen takes about 30 minutes. Once in Zvolen, the bus to Modrý Kameň departs from the bus station next to the train station. The bus ride takes around 30 minutes. After arriving in Modrý Kameň, follow the same walking directions as mentioned above to reach the museum.
