Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Trenčín city center. Head southeast on Hlavná street, then turn onto the D1 highway towards Žilina. Continue on the D1 for approximately 10 km until you see the exit for Lietava (Exit 124). Follow the signs to Lietava and drive for about 5 km until you reach the village. Once in the village, follow the signs indicating 'Hrad Lietava' (Castle Lietava). The castle is located on a hill overlooking the village, and there is a parking area nearby. Be aware that there might be a small parking fee, typically around 2 EUR for a few hours.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, begin your journey at the Trenčín train station. Board a train heading to Žilina and get off at the Lietava station. The journey takes about 30 minutes. From the Lietava train station, you can either take a taxi (which should cost approximately 10 EUR) or walk to the castle, which is around a 30-minute uphill walk. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as the path may be steep. If you prefer, you can also check local bus schedules that may provide direct service to Lietava.
Walking
If you are already in the village of Lietava, the castle is accessible by foot. From the village center, head towards the marked hiking trails leading up the hill. The walk is about 1.5 km and takes around 30 minutes, featuring beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Follow the signs for 'Hrad Lietava' as you make your way up the trail.
