Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Klagenfurt and head southeast on the A2 highway. Follow the A2 for about 30 km and take the exit towards Ljubljana. Continue on the A1 for approximately 35 km. Take the exit 10 for Šmartno and follow the signs for Šmartno. After exiting, continue straight for about 3 km until you reach the village of Šmartno. From there, follow the local signs to Mount Saint Mary, which will be visible as you approach the area. Parking is available near the base of the mountain.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, begin your journey at the main bus station in Klagenfurt. Take a bus to Ljubljana, which typically takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once in Ljubljana, transfer to a local bus heading towards Šmartno. The bus ride from Ljubljana to Šmartno takes about 40 minutes. Upon arrival in Šmartno, follow the signs for Mount Saint Mary, which is a short walk from the bus stop. Ensure to check the bus schedules in advance as they may vary, especially on weekends.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, cycling to Mount Saint Mary is an option. From Klagenfurt, take the cycling path that runs parallel to the A2 highway. The route is approximately 30 km to Šmartno. Once in Šmartno, follow local signs to reach the mountain. Be prepared for some elevation gain as you approach the peak. Ensure your bike is in good condition and carry water and snacks for the journey.
