Getting There

• Bus

  To reach Sevnica Castle from Celje, start by heading to the Celje Bus Station located at Trg celjskih knezov 6. Check the bus schedule for a bus heading towards Sevnica; these buses generally run frequently. Once you board the bus, enjoy the scenic ride which takes approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the Sevnica Bus Station. From there, you can follow the signs or use a map app to navigate to Cesta na Grad 17. Walk approximately 15 minutes uphill towards the castle; the path will be marked, and you will pass some beautiful views of the surrounding area.

• Train

  Begin your journey at Celje Train Station located at Železniška cesta 1. Purchase a ticket to Sevnica from the ticket counter or self-service machines. Trains to Sevnica typically run every hour and take about 20 minutes. Once you arrive at Sevnica Train Station, exit the station and follow the signs for Cesta na Grad. The castle is about a 25-minute walk uphill from the station. You can ask locals for directions if needed; they are usually friendly and helpful.

• Walking

  If you're feeling adventurous and prefer walking from Celje to Sevnica, you can take the scenic route along the Savinja River. Start at the Celje Castle, make your way down to the riverbank, and follow the path along the river towards Sevnica. This route is approximately 12 kilometers and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on your pace. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water. Once you reach Sevnica, follow the signs to Cesta na Grad 17 where the castle is located.
