Car
From Ljubljana, take the A1 highway in the direction of Maribor. After about 70 km, take exit 20 for Celje. Continue on the H4 road, following the signs to Celje. Once in Celje, follow the local signs to Cesta na Grad. You'll find Celje Castle at Cesta na Grad 78, 3000 Celje. There is parking available near the castle, but there may be a fee depending on the time of year.
Train
If you prefer public transportation, take a train from Ljubljana to Celje. Trains run frequently throughout the day, and the journey takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the Celje train station, exit and walk towards the bus station located nearby or take a taxi. From the bus station, you can take a local bus to the city center, or you may choose to walk to the castle, which is about a 30-minute walk uphill. Make sure to check the train schedules in advance on the Slovenian Railways website.
Bus
From Ljubljana, you can also take a bus to Celje. Buses depart from the Ljubljana Bus Station and the journey takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Upon arrival at the Celje Bus Station, follow the signs to the city center or take a taxi. The castle is about a 20-minute uphill walk from the bus station. Local buses may also connect to the castle area, but it's best to check the local bus schedules upon arrival.
Taxi
For a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from Celje's city center or the train/bus stations directly to Celje Castle. The distance is about 3 km, and the fare should be around 10-15 EUR, depending on the time of day and traffic. This option can save you time and effort, especially if you're traveling with luggage or in a group.
