Bus
From Ljubljana city center, head to the main bus station, Avtobusna postaja Ljubljana, located at Trg Osvobodilne Fronte 4. You can walk there from sites like Prešeren Square or the Ljubljanica River. Once at the bus station, buy a ticket to Bled. Buses to Bled run frequently, approximately every hour, and the journey takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. When you arrive at the bus station in Bled, it’s a short 15-minute walk to Lake Bled. Just follow the signs towards the lake, and you’ll see it ahead.
Train
To get to Lake Bled by train, first head to the Ljubljana Train Station (Železniška postaja Ljubljana), located near the city center. Once there, purchase a ticket to Lesce-Bled station. Trains run several times a day, and the journey takes about 40 minutes. After arriving at Lesce-Bled, you can take a local bus or a taxi to Lake Bled, which is about 4 kilometers away. Alternatively, if you prefer walking, it will take around 50 minutes.
Bicycle
If you are feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Ljubljana. Once you have your bike, follow the signs to the bike path that leads to Bled. The distance is approximately 55 kilometers, and the ride will take around 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on your pace. The route is scenic, taking you through beautiful countryside and small villages. Make sure to bring water and snacks for the journey.
Tour
Consider booking a guided day tour to Lake Bled through one of the many tour companies in Ljubljana. These tours usually include transportation from your hotel or a central meeting point, and they often feature a guided experience at Lake Bled, including visits to Bled Castle and the island.
