Public Transport
From Maribor city center, head to the Maribor bus station located on the southeastern side of the main square (Slomškov trg). Take a bus heading towards Lepoglava, which may require a transfer at a larger station like Varaždin. Ensure to check the bus schedules for the most accurate times. The journey will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at the Lepoglava bus station, Trakošćan Castle is about a 15-minute walk. Exit the station, turn left onto the main road (Trakošćanska cesta) and follow the signs leading to Trakošćan. You will pass through a small village before reaching the castle grounds.

Walking
If you are already in Lepoglava, from the Lepoglava bus station, exit and turn left onto Trakošćanska cesta (the main road). Continue walking straight for about 1.2 km. You will pass a few local shops and cafes. Keep an eye out for signs pointing towards Trakošćan Castle. The walk will take approximately 15 minutes, and you will eventually see the castle on a hill ahead, surrounded by beautiful nature.

Bicycle Rental
For a more active approach, consider renting a bicycle in Maribor. Head to a local bike rental shop in the city center and rent a bike for the day. Follow the bike paths leading to the bus station and take the bus to Lepoglava as previously mentioned. Once you arrive in Lepoglava, you can ride your bike towards Trakošćan Castle, using Trakošćanska cesta, which is bike-friendly. The ride from the bus station to the castle takes about 10-15 minutes.
