Getting There

  • Bus

    From Nova Gorica, head to the local bus station, which is located at Ulica Tolminskih Puntarjev 4. Take the bus to Ajdovščina; the journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Ajdovščina bus station, exit the station and head east towards the main road (H4). Continue walking along the H4 for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the signs for Grad Vipavski Križ. Follow the signs up the hill to the castle.

  • Train and Bus

    Begin at the Nova Gorica train station. Take a train to Ajdovščina; this may require a transfer at the station in Most na Soči. After arriving at Ajdovščina, exit the train station and follow the same route as described in the bus option. Head east toward the main road (H4), walk for about 1.5 kilometers, and follow the signs to Grad Vipavski Križ.

  • Walking

    If you're in the center of Nova Gorica, you can take a scenic walk to Grad Vipavski Križ. Start from the main square (Trg Edvarda Kardelja) and head north towards the bridge over the Soča River. Cross the bridge and continue walking northwest until you reach the village of Ajdovščina. The walk is approximately 12 kilometers and will take around 2.5 to 3 hours. Once in Ajdovščina, follow the previous instructions to reach Grad Vipavski Križ.
