Getting There

  • Bus

    From Koper city center, walk to the main bus station, located near the Koper Marina. Once there, purchase a ticket to Aquileia. Buses to Aquileia may not run frequently, so check the schedule in advance. The journey will take approximately 1 hour. After arriving in Aquileia, the main archaeological sites are within walking distance from the bus stop.

  • Train and Bus

    Head to the Koper train station, which is a short walk from the city center. Board a train heading towards Trieste, Italy. Get off at the next major stop, which is Monfalcone. From Monfalcone, catch a local bus to Aquileia. The entire journey may take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on connections. Ensure you check the train and bus schedules ahead of time.

  • Walking

    If you prefer a scenic route and are up for a long walk, you can walk towards the coastline, following the path along the sea. Head north along the coast until you reach the town of Grado. From Grado, you can take a local bus to Aquileia. This option is not recommended for those with limited time or mobility issues, as it is a lengthy journey.
