From the center of Postojna, head east on Trg Zgornja Postaja towards Cesta 9. Continue straight onto Cesta 9, which will take you out of Postojna. After about 1 km, you will reach the bus stop 'Postojna Avtobusna Postaja'. Here, take a bus towards Trieste. Buses to Trieste run regularly, so check the local schedule. Once you arrive in Trieste, disembark at the main bus station.
