Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by heading towards Cerknica from wherever you are in Sava. Use the main roads leading towards the E61 highway. Once on the E61, take the exit towards Cerknica (Exit 41). After exiting, follow the signs for Cerknica. Continue straight for about 10 km until you reach Cerknica town. Once in Cerknica, look for signs indicating Rakov Škocjan. The destination is approximately 5 km from the center of Cerknica, accessible via local roads. There is no parking fee at Rakov Škocjan.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Sava to Cerknica. Check the local bus schedules for the most accurate timings. Once you arrive in Cerknica, you will need to take a local taxi or find a rideshare option to reach Rakov Škocjan, as public transport directly to the site may not be available. The taxi ride should take approximately 10 minutes and may cost around 10-15 euros depending on the service. Make sure to have some cash on hand for the taxi fare.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Sava and ride to Cerknica, which is about 15 km away. Follow the scenic routes that lead you through beautiful landscapes.   If you're feeling adventurous and are staying close to Rakov Škocjan, consider walking from Cerknica. The walk is about 5 km and will take approximately 1 hour. Walk along the local roads, following signs to Rakov Škocjan. It's a pleasant walk through nature, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, especially during warmer months.
