Car
From Auki, the capital of Malaita Province, take the main road heading south toward Buma. The drive to Buma is approximately 30 kilometers and should take about 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on road conditions. Once you reach Buma, look for signs indicating the Ferafolia Forest Trail. There should be a small parking area near the trailhead. Please note that the road can be rough in places, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended.
Public Transportation
To reach Buma by public transport, board a bus or a shared taxi (often called 'bush taxis') from Auki. The fare is usually around 30 to 50 Solomon Island dollars. Confirm with the driver that they are heading to Buma. The trip will take about 1 hour. Upon arriving in Buma, ask locals for directions to the Ferafolia Forest Trail. The trailhead should be within walking distance from the town.
Walking
If you are already in Buma, you can reach the Ferafolia Forest Trail by walking. The trailhead is located a short distance from the town center. Simply ask locals for precise directions or follow any posted signs. It should take you about 10 to 15 minutes to walk from Buma to the trailhead.
