Car
To reach Nughu by car, start from Auki, the capital of Malaita Province. Head southeast on the main road towards the town of Gela. Continue driving for approximately 40 kilometers, following the signs for South East Gela. As you approach the coordinates P88R+4X9, look for local landmarks such as the nearby hills and vegetation. Be cautious of road conditions, as some areas may be unpaved or require 4WD.
Public Transportation
From Auki, take a local bus heading towards Gela. Buses depart regularly from the central bus station. Ensure you inform the driver that your destination is close to Nughu. The fare is typically around 30-50 SBD (Solomon Islands Dollars). Once you arrive in Gela, you may need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a pickup to take you closer to the coordinates P88R+4X9. Taxi fares can vary, so it’s advisable to negotiate the price beforehand.
Walking
If you are staying near Gela, you can opt to walk to Nughu, which is about 5 kilometers from the main road. Follow the trail that leads through the local villages and lush landscapes. Be sure to carry sufficient water and wear appropriate footwear. Walking offers a unique opportunity to experience local culture and scenery, but be mindful of the weather and time of day.
