Car
Starting from Ceerigaabo, drive east on the main road towards Cal Madow. Follow the signs to Shimbiris Mountain. After approximately 20 kilometers, you will reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork and continue for another 15 kilometers. Watch for a small dirt road on your right that leads towards the waterfall. It may be helpful to have a local map or GPS, as the last stretch is unpaved and not well marked. Parking is available at the base of the trail leading to Lamadaya waterfall.
Public Transportation
From Ceerigaabo, catch a minibus heading towards Cal Madow. Make sure to inform the driver that you are going to Lamadaya waterfall, as they may drop you off at a suitable spot near the turn-off to the waterfall trail. The fare should be around 20,000 SOS (Somali Shillings). After being dropped off, follow the dirt road leading to the waterfall, which is approximately a 5-kilometer walk. It’s advisable to travel in a group for safety and ask locals for directions if needed.
Hiking
Once you reach the turn-off from the main road (either by car or public transport), you will need to hike approximately 2 kilometers to reach Lamadaya waterfall. The trail can be rugged, so sturdy shoes are recommended. The first part of the hike leads through a forested area before opening up to stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Keep an eye out for local flora and fauna along the way. Take your time and enjoy the scenery!
