Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, which is Las Anod. Head southeast on the main road towards Shimbiris Mountain. Continue driving for approximately 40 km until you reach the parking area near the base of the mountain. From there, follow the dirt road leading up the mountain, which will take you directly to the vicinity of Xeri-Mooli. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain, as the road can be challenging.

    To reach Xeri-Mooli via public transportation, take a shared taxi or minibus from Las Anod heading towards Shimbiris. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the nearest stop to Shimbiris Mountain. The fare should be around 3000 SOS (Somali Shillings). After disembarking, you will need to hike up the mountain along a marked path that leads to Xeri-Mooli. This hike can take approximately 1-2 hours depending on your pace.
