Getting There

  • Car

    From the main entrance of De Hoop Nature Reserve, head south on the R326 road. Continue driving for approximately 24 kilometers until you reach the sign for Potberg. Turn left onto the Potberg road and follow it for about 8 kilometers. You will see signs directing you to the Potberg hut and Whale Trail start. Once you arrive at the Potberg parking area, park your vehicle. Please note that there is an entrance fee for De Hoop Nature Reserve, which is generally around ZAR 30 per person.

    If you are relying on public transportation, your best option will be to take a bus to the nearby town of Swellendam.
