If you are driving, start at the town of Underberg. From Underberg, take the R617 road towards Himeville. Continue on the R617 for about 10 km until you reach the turnoff for the Sani Pass road, which is marked. Turn left onto Sani Pass Road (R617) and follow it for approximately 25 km. Be aware that the road is unpaved and can be quite steep and winding. Make sure your vehicle is suitable for mountain driving, and check weather conditions before you go, as the pass can be closed due to snow or heavy rain. There is a cost of around R60 per vehicle to enter the Sani Pass area, which you will pay at the entrance gate.
