The bus ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Disembark at the Umhlanga stop closest to the main road. Once you get off, walk towards the beach promenade, and continue heading north until you reach the uMhlanga Lagoon Nature Reserve entrance, which is situated near the Hawaan area.

Catch a minibus taxi from the Durban city center to Umhlanga. Look for taxis that have 'Umhlanga' written on them. The journey will take around 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Umhlanga main beach area. From there, walk north along the beachfront promenade until you reach the entrance to uMhlanga Lagoon Nature Reserve at Hawaan.
