Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start your journey from the town of Phalaborwa. Head northeast on the R71 road. After approximately 15 kilometers, turn onto the D1916 road. Follow this road for about 5 kilometers until you reach the entrance of the Grietjie Private Nature Reserve. Be sure to pay the entrance fee at the gate, which is roughly ZAR 100 per vehicle. Once inside, follow the signs to Farm 76, where Ngalali Retreat is located. The drive through the reserve is scenic and offers opportunities to see wildlife.

• Public Transport

  If you prefer public transportation, take a taxi or shuttle service from Phalaborwa to Grietjie Private Nature Reserve. You can inquire about shuttle services at local hotels or the Phalaborwa taxi rank. The fare to Grietjie is approximately ZAR 50 to ZAR 80 per person. Once you arrive at the gate of Grietjie Private Nature Reserve, you will need to pay the entrance fee (around ZAR 100) to enter. After that, it is advisable to arrange for a local guide or further transport within the reserve, as public transport does not operate inside.

• Private Transfer

  For a more comfortable option, consider booking a private transfer service from Phalaborwa directly to Ngalali Retreat. Many local companies offer this service, and prices may vary between ZAR 500 to ZAR 800 depending on the provider and vehicle type. This option will take you directly to the retreat without needing to navigate through the reserve yourself.
