If you are traveling by car in Namaqualand, start from the nearest major town, Springbok. Take the N7 highway heading south for about 20 km. Then, turn left onto the R355 road. Follow the R355 for approximately 50 km until you reach the turnoff for the Maalgat Rock Pool, which will be marked by a sign. Continue on the dirt road for about 5 km until you arrive at the parking area near the pool. Be aware that a 4x4 vehicle is recommended for the last part of the journey due to the rough terrain.

If you are using public transportation, you can take a bus from Springbok to the nearest drop-off point on the R355. From there, you will need to arrange for a taxi or shuttle service, as public transport does not reach the Maalgat Rock Pool directly. Make sure to confirm the fare with the driver beforehand, as it may vary. The taxi ride from the R355 drop-off to the Maalgat Rock Pool will take approximately 20-30 minutes.

For those who enjoy hiking, you can park your car at the nearest point accessible by road and hike the remaining distance to the Maalgat Rock Pool. The hike is moderate, taking approximately 1-2 hours depending on your pace. Follow the footpath leading from the dirt road towards the pool, and make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. Note that this route is not well marked, so a map or GPS device is advisable.
