If you are starting your journey from a major city in Northern Cape, such as Kimberley or Upington, take the N12 highway towards Colesberg. From Colesberg, take the N1 to the town of Gariep Dam. At Gariep Dam, transition to the R57 and follow signs towards the town of De Aar. Once in De Aar, continue on the R701 towards the town of Williston. From Williston, take the R355 road which will lead you directly to Tankwa Karoo National Park. The park entrance is located on the R355, approximately 40 kilometers from Williston. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel as petrol stations are sparse in this region.
