Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Hermanus, head east on the R43 towards the N2. Merge onto the N2 highway in the direction of Caledon. Continue on the N2 for approximately 25 km. Look for the Houw Hoek exit (Exit 93), and take the exit towards R43/Houw Hoek. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the R43. After about 1.5 km, the Green Mountain Trail entrance will be on your left. Make sure to have cash on hand for possible parking fees.

• Public Transportation

  From Hermanus, you can take a bus to Caledon. Once in Caledon, you will need to take a taxi to reach the Green Mountain Trail. Ask the bus driver or local residents for the taxi pick-up point. The taxi ride should take about 20 minutes and cost approximately R50. Inform the driver of your destination, and they will drop you off at the trail's entrance.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous traveler, you can cycle to the Green Mountain Trail. Starting from Hermanus, take the R43 towards Caledon. The distance is roughly 30 km, and it should take about 2-3 hours depending on your cycling speed. Be sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water, as there are limited stops along the way. The trail entrance will be on your left as you approach Houw Hoek.

• Walking

  If you're staying nearby and are keen on walking, you can hike to the Green Mountain Trail from the Houw Hoek area. It is approximately a 2 km walk from the nearest accommodation options. Follow the main road (R43) and look for the trail entrance on your left. This scenic walk will give you a taste of the beautiful fynbos landscape that surrounds the area.
