If you're traveling by car, start on the N2 highway heading towards Mthatha. After about 45 km, take the exit for the R61 towards Port St Johns. Continue on the R61 for approximately 55 km until you reach the turnoff for the Mkambati Nature Reserve, which is well-marked. Follow the signs to the reserve entrance, where you may need to pay a small entrance fee (usually around R50 per person). The roads leading to the reserve may be unpaved, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.

If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from Mthatha to Port St Johns. The buses operate regularly and the fare is approximately R70. Once in Port St Johns, you can hire a local taxi or shuttle service to take you to Mkambati Nature Reserve. Make sure to negotiate the fare with the driver beforehand, which should be around R200 for the trip. Be prepared for a bumpy ride as the roads may not be in the best condition.
