If you're traveling by car, start from the N2 highway. If you're coming from the north, take the N2 south towards Mthatha. After approximately 60 kilometers, take the exit for the R61 towards Port St. Johns. Continue on the R61 for about 45 kilometers until you reach the town of Port St. Johns. From Port St. Johns, continue on the R61 for another 30 kilometers, then turn right onto the dirt road leading to Mkambati Nature Reserve. The reserve is well signposted, so follow the signs to the entrance.

For those using public transportation, take a bus from East London or Mthatha to Port St. Johns. Once in Port St. Johns, you can hire a local taxi (often referred to as a 'combi taxi') to take you to Mkambati Nature Reserve. The taxi drivers are familiar with the area, so just tell them you're going to Mkambati. The fare is usually around ZAR 100-150 per person. Make sure to confirm the price before starting your journey.
