From Summerville, walk to the nearest bus stop that serves the CARTA public bus system. You can take the Route 10, which heads towards Charleston. Board the bus and enjoy the ride for approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you reach the stop at 'Meeting St & Broad St', disembark and walk south on Meeting Street until you reach the intersection with Church Street. Turn left on Church Street, and you will find the Heyward-Washington House at 87 Church St, Charleston, SC 29403.

If you are renting a bicycle, start from the center of Summerville headed towards the Ashley River Road (SC-61). Follow the road south, then turn onto Riverland Drive, which will lead you towards downtown Charleston. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Meeting Street, where you will turn left. Ride north on Meeting Street until reaching Church Street, then turn left again. The Heyward-Washington House will be on your left at 87 Church St.
